7 Things to Do During Your First 7 Days in SLC
I moved cross-country recently and was surprised at how much I ended up falling in love with a city in just seven short days. Here are seven things I did during my first week that I would highly recommend to anyone just moving or just visiting Salt Lake:
1. Drive from SLC International Airport to Downtown SLC
You will NOT be disappointed by these views — just don’t forget to still pay attention to the highway. 10/10 recommend, especially during sunset.
2. BFF Turon
To ease my craving of home-cooked, Filipino food, I had to try the highly-rated BFF Turon in West Jordan. Such good, authentic adobo, sinigang, pancit, and more. Don’t forget to buy extra turon!
3. WinCo
Check out this supermarket chain, commonly found on the West Coast, for all your necessities. Super cheap prices with an insane selection of stuff to buy — just don’t forget to pack a debit card or cash because they don’t take credit.
4. Sugarhouse
This neighborhood just south of Downtown SLC is super cute and has amazing, close-up views of the mountains on the east side. Drive around or check out Sugarhouse Park!
5. Ensign Peak
Hike this!! The <1 mile hike up to Ensign Peak will give you maximum-quality views of the city and the mountains with minimum-level effort. A must-do for anyone new to the city to get a birds-eye-view of where you were lucky enough to end up!
6. Pretty Bird Chicken
Honestly one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. Make sure to also try the Mexican Street Corn Salad! Super worth the calorie splurge for dinner.
7. Campos Coffee & Cupla Coffee
I couldn’t not recommend both cafes I visited during my first week so here they are. Campos Coffee has an amazingly smooth latte with a cute ambiance for brunch. Cupla Coffee is tucked away in the basement of a building but has delicious quiche and very good iced lattes. Service was incredible at both!
If it’s not already in your life plan, add to it: Visit Salt Lake City! There’s no shortage of things left for me to explore here and I hope you will get to someday, too.
